It’s Summer Playlist Time!

The other day, someone recently brought it to my attention that I hadn’t done a new summer playlist…how silly of me! I truly believe that having the perfect background music for your journey is essential. Your musical selections can enhance your travel experience ten fold! Here are some options to get your playlist started for your last minute summer road trips with Preferred Motorcoach Transportation! 🙂

Silento – ‘Watch Me’

<iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/vjW8wmF5VWc&#8221; frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen><!–iframe>

I’m sure you’ve either heard this song or at least have seen references to the dance moves. If not, it’s time to move from under the rock where you’ve been living. This is one of THE songs of the summer! Everyone has been dancing along including America’s new national treasure, Riley Curry. Full disclosure: I have a love/hate relationship with this song. It gets on my nerves but I love it at the same time. It’s SUPER catchy. You’ll be dancing right along after just a few minutes.

Taylor Swift ft. Kendrick Lamar – ‘Bad Blood’

<iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/QcIy9NiNbmo&#8221; frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen><!–iframe>

This features Kendrick Lamar. That’s enough for me!

Whitney Houston – ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’

<iframe width=”420″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/eH3giaIzONA&#8221; frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen><!–iframe>

So you know that moment when you’ve been on the road for HOURS and you need a little pick me up because you can’t even anymore? Turn on this song. Immediately. Classic 80’s Whitney always wakes me up! It’s fun, upbeat, and just as that carefree summer feel to it. When you get restless on the road, crank up this jam and thank me later.

The Weeknd – ‘Can’t Feel My Face’

<iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/KEI4qSrkPAs&#8221; frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen><!–iframe>

This song has an MJ feel to me. It makes me want to get up, put on some penny loafers and, well, I can’t really dance at all but I jig a little. Anyway, The Weeknd (I still can’t figure out why he decided to ditch the ‘e’, but whatevs) makes EXCELLENT music. And this is one of his one of my new favorites of his!

Janelle Monae – ‘Yoga’

Janelle rocks! Everything she touches turns to pure gold. This is a fact. So, her latest single is no exception. This song is so much fun! I’m not good at yoga, like, at all, but that doesn’t matter. I jam this! And it’s perfect for the open road!

Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars – ‘Uptown Funk’

I LOVE this song. It’s catchy, upbeat, and so much fun! It has summer vibes, a summer beat, and it just screams summer. When it comes on, you will immediately turn up, because those are the rules. Mark Ronson, who produced the song, has a real gift and it shines through on this song!

Beyonce – ‘7/11’

Because Beyonce. Any questions?

Will Smith – ‘Summertime’

I’ve put this on a summer playlist piece before. I know. Let it go. The song is called ‘Summertime’, for crying out loud! It will go on EVERY summer playlist I ever make. #SorryNotSorry

Summer Summer Summer Time: Summer Road Trip Playlist!

Well… Summer is upon us!! I am not a fan of heat, but I love the summertime vibe. Summer is chill and laid back and the perfect time for summer road trips! Of course that means a new playlist. Because you can’t have just one. My music taste is so eclectic, so the songs on my list come from all different genres, but the vibes are all the same; SUMMER FUN. Music will definitely help pass the time on the long trips so if you’re heading out on the road this summer and need some ideas for car tunes, here are some of my favorite summer road trip songs!

Umbrella

Rihanna ft. Jay Z

I try to not be a Rihanna fan. I really do. But that girl just keeps putting out music that I really love! And Umbrella just makes me want to dance!

Treasure

Bruno Mars

This is the PERFECT car sing-a-long song! TREASURRRRRRRRE! THAT’S. JUST. WHAT. YOU. AREEEEEEEEE!

American Boy

Estelle ft. Kanye West

I really like this song. It just has…vibes. So much vibes.

Happy

Pharrell

Yes this song has been all over the place. OH WELL. I love it still! And in moderation, it really is perfect for being on the road.

Love Never Felt So Good

Michael Jackson ft. Justin Timberlake

One of the new previously unreleased MJ songs, this was my favorite on the album! Just like Umbrella, this song just makes me want to dance! And I do not dance well. But that’s ok!

Viva La Vida

Coldplay

During a trip from Dallas to Austin once, I played this on repeat for a good 30 minutes. You couldn’t tell me I wasn’t the unofficial 5th member of Coldplay. It’s a very infectious song so I have a feeling it will have the same effect on most of you. So, sing to your heart’s content. You won’t be able to help yourself.

Get Up

Mary Mary

Such a motivational song! This song will certainly get everyone up and at ’em. Especially when you were supposed to have left 30 minutes ago but someone is holding everyone up…

End Of Time

Beyoncé

This is fist pumping greatness. Queen Bey never rarely disappoints me. (Don’t tell The Beygency…)

Valerie

Mark Ronson ft. Amy Winehouse

Amy’s soulful voice is PERFECT for a summer playlist. And this song is so much fun to sing-a-long with also!

Get Lucky

Daft Punk

Those French robots struck gold with this one. I’ve never gotten tired of it! #vibes

And last but not least…

Summertime

DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince

This is THE official song of all summers from 1991 until the end of time. This is not up for debate. Bye.

So there you have it. What are some of your favorite summer tunes? Let me know in the comments!

10 Songs For Your Trip’s Playlist

Welcome to 2014!

It’s the first Monday of the new year and I’m sure everyone has their resolutions ready and inevitably, many will resolve to travel more in 2014. This is such a great goal. So, after you gather all your peeps, rent your charter bus J, and pick your destination, you’ll need one more thing to complete your trip: your travel playlist. Mine changes with each trip and yours probably will too because our tastes change, our moods change, our minds change. One minute we’re jamming some Journey and we can’t stop believin’ then the next thing we know we’re turning up and hollering “Tru!” with 2 Chainz. Music is essential for me to travel anywhere, just as important as my ticket, toiletries, and unmentionables. I will spend about an hour compiling a playlist on my iPod for my travels. I personally don’t love long trips (even the 2.5 hour trip from Dallas to Austin drags for me sometimes) so music is also great to make the time seem to pass faster.

Whether you need some suggestions on where to start when making your playlist or you’d just like some suggestions for new playlist material, here are 10 songs that I love to take with me when traveling. It’s pretty eclectic so hopefully there’s something for everybody.

Jay Z and Kanye West – ‘N***** In Parris’ [explicit lyrics]

This song is perfect for traveling. It just makes you feel hype and excited. And this is pretty much across the board. Trust me, I’ve seen it performed live.

Trae ft. Pimp C and Hawk – ‘Swang’

This happens to be my favorite song. A Michael Jackson sample. That signature Houston, TX feel. Three Lone Star State hip hop all-stars. It’s everything.

Madonna – ‘Holiday’

I love this song and it is especially great for traveling. It feels like fun! Plus, it’s Madonna. You can’t go wrong with Madge.

Cameo – ‘Candy’

You know that feeling when you wake up extra early the morning you’re leaving for a trip with your girls (or your boys) and everyone’s all hype and excited even though the sun hasn’t even hit snooze on it’s alarm clock yet? That’s how this song feels.

Mariah Carey – ‘Always Be My Baby’

One of the best car/bus trip sing-a-long songs ever. EVER.

UGK ft. Outkast – ‘International Player’s Anthem (I Choose You)

Andre 3000. Pimp C. Bun B. Big Boi. The end.

Tears For Fears – ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’

Songs from the 80s make some of THE BEST travel songs. You and your friends won’t be able to resist singing and dancing along. Make sure the video is ready because it’ll make for some great clips.

Beyoncé – ‘Party’ (One version features Andre 3000 and one features J Cole. I’m here for both of them)

Of course it’s perfect for traveling. It’s by Bey and it’s called ‘Party’! What more do you need?

Kendrick Lamar ft. Young Jeezy – ‘Westside, Right On Time’ [explicit lyrics]

The West coast vibe on this song is so real. Fun, sun, and friends!

*NSYNC – ‘Bye, Bye, Bye’

My little early 2000s heart couldn’t leave *NSYNC off this list. When it comes on, all of your friends will do the dance. Again, have the video ready. This song makes me feel 13 again…in a good way.

So what did you think? Did I miss any? What are some jams you can’t travel without? And leave us some comments!
